Jumped well, raced in 2nd, 2 wide, travelled comfortably in the middle stages, took the lead early in straight, kept on well to the line and scored.

Crowded shortly after the start by LEATHER MASTER. Trainer P C Ng confirmed that from a wide barrier the instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped awkwardly. Shortly after the start was then steadied when crowded by LEATHER MASTER (A Badel) which shifted in. A Badel was advised to exercise more care. In the early stages raced keenly when being eased to obtain cover.

Began only fairly, raced towards rear, 5 lengths back turning in, taken wide in straight and made good progress to make frame, no threat to the first few.

Near the 200 Metres was eased when racing tight to the inside of LEATHER MASTER.

Jumped only fairly. Trainer Y S Tsui advised that the intention was to ride the horse in a more forward position. After the event H T Mo stated that despite riding his mount along in the early stages it did not show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.

Jumped well from gate 1, sent forward to take the lead, led by 1/2L on turn, peaked and headed early in straight, weakened inside final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

After the event M F Poon reported that after travelling comfortably in the lead his mount gave ground in the Home Straight and, in his opinion, did not run out the 1800 Metres of today’s race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Bumped start, positioned a length behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter.

Slightly slow out and crowded, positioned 3 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, showed limited response early in straight, weakened final 200M.

Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start blundered badly when crowded by SUPER HONG KONG which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider K Teetan. Passing the 50 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running to the inside of LAPRAS and as a result was shifted to that runner’s outside to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced at rear throughout, never a factor. (See Racing Incidents.)

After the event J Orman explained that despite riding his mount along throughout the early and middle stages it did not respond to his efforts to hold a more forward position and failed to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Jumped well, raced behind midfield on outer, 4 lengths or so back turning in, failed to close off in straight.

On jumping was bumped by U S S CONSTITUTION which shifted in. After the event M L Yeung reported that his mount may have come to the end of its preparation. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. <2/7/2025 Additional Veterinary Reports> JOYFUL CHAMPION, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. JOYFUL CHAMPION was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C W Chang this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
