Stewards' Comments
Shifted in at start and bumped, sent forward to take the lead, travelled well in the middle stages, led by 3/4L turning in, kept on well to the line and scored. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
Shifted in at the start, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. When questioned, L Ferraris stated that the instructions were to hold an on-pace position. He said in the early stages he was obliged to make some use of his mount to cross runners to his inside which resulted in WORLD HERO leading and racing a little keenly. Sent for sampling post-race.
Moderately away from gate 1, positioned 3 lengths behind the leader on the inside, same position on turn, finished off well to take 2nd.
Incident Report
Near the 50 Metres was directed to the outside of WORLD HERO to continue into clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.
Away well, raced prominently, 2 wide on turn, kept on well in straight to take a place, always held.
Incident Report
No report.
Fast into stride, positioned 2 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, finished off evenly.
Incident Report
Sent for sampling post-race.
Jumped awkwardly, taken back to race towards rear on the inside, 5 lengths or so back turning in, no clear run early in straight, cleared 300M, finished off strongly to be nearest on line. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
Jumped awkwardly and then from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. When questioned regarding his riding making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Home Straight, K Teetan stated that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. He said after settling back in the field near the 500 Metres he elected to remain racing behind GALLANT GOODY with a view to following that runner into the race and obtaining a run to the inside of URBAN TRIUMPH which he had expected to give ground. He stated that his decision to do so was influenced by the fact that SUPER EAGLE was racing first up for 101 days and he did not wish to expose his mount too soon. He added that when URBAN TRIUMPH continued to respond to its rider’s efforts he then became held up behind GALLANT GOODY between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres and once he shifted to the outside of URBAN TRIUMPH his mount finished the race off well. After considering his explanation the Stewards advised Jockey Teetan that, in their opinion, his better option would have been to shift to the outside of GALLANT GOODY near the 500 Metres to follow URBAN TRIUMPH into the event to provide SUPER EAGLE with clear running sooner than what it obtained on this occasion.
Began only fairly, raced behind midfield on the inside, 4 lengths or so back, same margin back on turn, kept to inside after straightening and made some progress. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
Between the 400 Metres and the 150 Metres raced tight to the inside of FAIRY HORSE as it endeavoured to obtain a narrow run to that runner’s inside. After the event, R Kingscote reported that after beginning only fairly ALMIGHTY KICK settled slightly further back than anticipated.
Crowded shortly after start, raced 2 wide, 4 lengths or so back, there to turn, no daylight early in straight, made minor progress thereafter.
Incident Report
Shortly after the start was crowded between BULB EMPEROR and WORLD HERO which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Began awkwardly and unbalanced, positioned 3 wide, 2 lengths back, wider turning in, made some progress early in straight, peaked 200M, kept on same pace to the line.
Incident Report
Jumped awkwardly and became unbalanced. Trainer K L Man advised that the instructions were to take up a midfield position with cover.
Made contact at start, raced in midfield on the outside, 4 lengths back turning in, peaked early in straight, ran on evenly to the line.
Incident Report
After travelling a short distance became unbalanced when racing in restricted room between THE CONCENTRATION and BULB EMPEROR.
Slowly away, raced at tail, 7 lengths back turning in, made no impression in straight.
Incident Report
Slow to begin.
Average to begin, sent forward to race prominently but trapped 3 wide, there to turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final 300M. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
After the event, A Badel stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Crowded start, raced 2 wide better than midfield, 2 lengths or so back turning in, weakened early in straight, eased final furlong. (Irregular heart rhythm.) (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
After travelling a short distance raced in restricted room to the inside of WORLD HERO (L Ferraris) which shifted in. L Ferraris was advised to exercise more care. After the event, C L Chau reported that after being crowded at the start his mount travelled satisfactorily during the race. He said when he placed the horse under pressure in the Home Straight it failed to respond to his riding and when not in a competitive position he eased it down over the final 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, BULB EMPEROR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
