Bumped start, raced 2 wide behind midfield, 3 wide after entering the back straight, made contact 900M, hard ridden approaching 550M, very wide into straight, finished off very strongly to score.

Bumped at the start. Near the 900 Metres shifted out and made contact with FURY AND GOLD. K Teetan was reprimanded in relation to using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height near the 350 Metres. He was also fined the sum of $10,000 for using the whip on consecutive occasions in 5 consecutive strides near the 300 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped with them, raced better than midfield on the outside, 2nd after entering the back straight, 1/2L back turning in, hit the front 200M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner final 100M.

Bumped on jumping. For some distance near the 600 Metres raced tight to the inside of MEEPMEEP after obtaining a narrow run to the inside of that runner. Passing the 100 Metres C L Chau dropped his left rein for a number of strides.

Blundered on jumping, raced in 2nd, 2 wide, allowed rival to cross near 1100M, 1 out 1 back on turn, kept on well early in straight, peaked 200M, ran on evenly to the line.

L Ferraris stated that from barrier 1 his mount jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with LEATHER MASTER and as a consequence was unable to lead. He said, in his opinion, ON THE LASH is better suited when being able to dictate in front. Trainer P N Ng concurred with the views expressed by Jockey Ferraris. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Average to begin, raced in midfield on the outside, 3 lengths or so back, similar position on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.) (Lame right front leg.)

B Avdulla stated that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and did not finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, MEEPMEEP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Slightly slow out from the widest draw, raced at rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, kept to inside after straightening and made some progress until not enough room final 100M.

Jumped only fairly. From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Over the final 50 Metres was held up for clear running behind GOLDEN FAIRY.

After being placed in the starting gates reared and got its right front leg over the starting gate for a short period. IRON LEGION was removed from the barriers, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to start. After again being placed in the starting gates reared and then as a consequence was slow to begin. The barrier manners of IRON LEGION were considered unacceptable. The Stewards ruled that IRON LEGION will be required to attend barrier practice to the satisfaction of the Starter prior to performing satisfactorily in a barrier trial before being allowed to race again. Held up for clear running making the Home Turn. M Chadwick stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position but after being slow to begin he was unable to do so. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced at rear on the outside, moved a bit closer after passing 1300M, made contact near 900M, 4 lengths or so back on turn, very wide turning in, weakened early in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Bumped near the 900 Metres. H Bentley stated that after the horse made a wide run from the 800 Metres he became concerned with its action in the Home Straight and as a result he did not fully ride it out to the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, FURY AND GOLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
