TORONADO, a son of HIGH CHAPARRAL and the former Al Shaqab Racing runner, with a record of 6 wins and 3 seconds in 12 starts while Richard Hughes as his regular jockey, winning distance from 1300M to 1600M. He remained unbeaten when he was 2 until being ran down by DAWN APPROACH in 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes under the care of Richard Hannon Sr., but he fought back in Sussex Stakes afterwards. He landed Queen Anne Stakes for trainer Richard Hannon as a 5YO. After that, he made his move to Breeders' Cup Mile but failed. He entered stud in 2015, 52 runners of him won the black type contests, HK representatives found The Centenary Sprint Cup winner VICTOR THE WINNER and two Hong Kong Classic Mile winners HELIOS EXPRESS and LITTLE PARADISE. He was trained by Graham Richardson & Rogan Norvall in New Zealand and too part in 3 barrier trials where he settled at rear early and ran on steadily to win an 800M section (9th Jun 2025) on soft going, then always at rear for 6th in an 800M section (9th Sept 2025) on soft going.
