A Tale of Two Clubs; A Tale of Two Managers. Guardiola and Arteta. Master and Apperentice. City made light work of Chelsea winning 3-0 away just a day after Arsenal limped to a defeat at home against Bournemouth. The difference between the two managers and the two squads was seen in the dugout and on the pitch. Arsenal started Gyokeres, Havertz, Martinelli and Madueke in the forward areas while Zubimendi and Declan Rice was trusted to pull the strings. Between the 5 of them, they contributed less than 18 goals this season and 12 of those goals were scored by Gyokeres. City started an attack of Haaland, Semenyo, Cherki, B. Silva and Jeremy Doku. This attack has yielded about 41 goals between them and over 15 assists. The gulf in class is already evident. An injury to Saka saw Arsenal relapse to Madueke but Cherki could make way for Foden. An injury to O'Reilly saw him replaced by Rayan Ait Nouri who they had signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Manchester City assembled practically a new team this season and their cherry on top was adding two out of the best players in the Premier league in January in Marc Guehi (who scored today) and Antoine Semenyo. Needing a goal while chasing a result against Bournemouth, Arsenal introduced a 16 year old, Max Dowman, Leandro Trossard, Perma-crocked Gabriel Jesus and Eberechi Eze who is decent on his day. If anything, Arsenal and Arteta has overperformed to the point where they are leading the league against bankrolled City and Guardiola. But this does not mean that the gap between the two managers and players are not clear. Man City, after a poor and tentative first half where Chelsea looked more threatening, went into the dressing at half time and was born anew. Right from the 46th minute, you could see that Guardiola has had a word and the Sky Football Commentator also remarked as same. City was pressing and penetrating and it was nit long before they were rewarded with the first goal from O'Reilly. From there and aided by Chelsea sometimes, they scored the second and the third. In Arsenal's case, their poor first half against Bournemouth somehow became poorer at the restart. At the first half, they had equalised with a penalty but in the second half, they created next to nothing from open play and Bournemouth took it all in their stride. Of course, Arteta has the right to question the mentality of some of his players who seem to shrink once the pressure starts cooking but in the same wise, Arsenal fans have to question Arteta. The league is still Arsenal's to lose. They are 6 points ahead of City, however, their lack of a result against Bournemouth now means that Arsenal must not lose to City next weekend. A draw is a decent result and both Arteta and his boys must now rise and be counted when they line up against City at the Etihad next week. And to get that result, Arteta has to figure out how to play against the strategy Guardiola has set where 4 attackers block the build up and passing routes which made them to keep passing back to their keeper.
