Asian Handicap Betting Guide for Beginners — Korean Edition
What Is Asian Handicap?
Asian Handicap (AH) is a betting system that eliminates the draw by giving one team a goal advantage or disadvantage. It originated in Indonesia and Southeast Asia in the 1990s and is now used worldwide.
AH vs 1X2 vs Over/Under
| Feature | Asian Handicap | 1X2 (European) | Over/Under |
|---|
| Outcomes | 2 (Win/Lose) | 3 (Win/Draw/Lose) | 2 (Over/Under) |
| Draw | Refund | Counted | N/A |
How to Read Handicap Lines
Basic lines: -0.5 (must win by 1+), -1.0 (must win by 2+, 1-goal win = refund), -1.5 (must win by 2+).
Quarter lines: -0.75 splits your bet into two halves — one on -0.5 and one on -1.0. A 1-goal win gives you half-win, half-refund. -0.25 splits between 0 and -0.5.
World Cup 2026 Application
Korea received +0.25 against Czechia (slight underdogs) and won 2-1 — a clear AH win. Against South Africa, Korea was -0.25 (slight favorites) but lost 0-1, resulting in a full AH loss.
| Match | AH Line | Result | AH Outcome |
|---|
| vs Czechia | Korea +0.25 | 2-1 Win | Full Win |
| vs Mexico | Korea +0.75 | 0-1 Loss | Half Loss |
| vs South Africa | Korea -0.25 | 0-1 Loss | Full Loss |
